Performing arts awards

British Council (India) launched a Young Performing Arts Entrepreneur (YPAE) Award on April 21. The award is incorporated within its Young Creative Entrepreneur (YCE) Awards programme. It rewards the talent and initiative of young entrepreneurs in creative industries.

Residents of India between 25-35 years of age are eligible to apply. The Indian finalist will compete with international finalists in Edinburgh in August, with the winner receiving an award of £5,000 (Rs.3.65 lakh), plus an opportunity to develop business links with British firms.

The closing date for receipt of applications is May 15. Eligible candidates for YPAE include producers of theatre, dance, music or live art performances; promoters, festival directors and marketing specialists in this area; managers of theatre, dance, music or live art companies; developers of performing arts and communications websites; consultants providing specialist services in any of the above areas.

As part of the International Young Creative Entrepreneur (IYCE) Award scheme promoted across the British Council’s international network, eight-ten countries are invited to participate each year. Each participating country selects one national finalist to represent the country in the international competition held in the UK. Likewise, YCE awards are held in the UK to identify the best British entrepreneurs in music, publishing, design, and fashion.
