iCongo invites awards nominations

The Delhi-based iCongo (Indian Confederation of Non Government Organisations) invites nominations for its Karmaveer Puraskar awards presented annually to outstanding citizens for innovating best practices in promoting social justice and action in various walks of life. The idea behind the Karmaveer Puraskar awards is to celebrate outstanding citizens in corporates, government, media, small and medium enterprises, student and other communities who have contributed to social justice and action by going beyond business as usual boundaries.

Tha Karmaveer Puraskar is a peoples’ award instituted by iCONGO and the Khemka Foundation. Partners supporting the awards include TiE, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, BCCI, CMS, NASSCOM Foundation, PHDCCI, FISME, AIESEC, Open Space NDTV, Outlook, Businessworld, Dataquest, Big FM, Tehelka among other reputable organisations. Introduced in 2006-07 the iCONGO-Khemka Foundation’s ‘Noble Laureates’ include Dr. Verghese Kurien, Dr. M.S. Swaminathan, James Lyngdoh, among others.

“The awards are given to citizens individually for their contributions in precipitating change and are not for organisations,” says Jerononio Almeida, promoter-secretary of iCONGO. “If you are a caring citizen, who wants to bring change in society and inspire others to do the same, please download and complete the nomination form posted on our website http://www.righteverywrong.com/Awards_Flash.aspx and nominate him/her for the awards.”

The completed nomination form should be sent to iCONGO before September 30. E-mail: jeroninio@gmail.com.
