Amity’s K-12 initiatives

Although better known for its Amity University, Uttar Pradesh, Amity University, Rajasthan and 15 Amity Business Schools and over 150 centres and institutes affiliated with the two universities, the Delhi/Noida-based Amity Group has also promoted four pre-schools and eight primary-secondary schools, all sited in the Delhi NCR (National Capital Region). Indeed the very first education institution promoted in India in 1991 by this fast-track education conglo-merate was the Amity International School, Saket (Delhi).

Under a division of labour arrange-ment within the Chauhan family, which constitutes the RBE Foundation and manages the Amity Group, the four Amiown pre-schools and eight primary-secondaries fall within the jurisdictional purview of Dr. (Mrs.) Amita Chauhan, a Sanskrit scholar who was awarded a Ph D in the subject by Kurukshetra University. As such she is a believer in propagating contemporary Western education infused with Indian cultural values and traditions. “My aim is to provide each and every Amitian the best modern education and facilities to enable our students to achieve their dreams and aspirations. Not only do we endow them with the best creative and technical qualifications, we also teach them indispensable human values,” says Dr. Chauhan.

The group’s pre-schools, which have an aggregate enrolment of 1,000 children, and primary-secondaries hosting 20,000 students, have established excellent reputations for delivering high quality academic and extra-curricular education — Amity International School, Noida (estb. 1994) was ranked 15th among day schools across India and 7th in North India in the EducationWorld-C fore Survey of Schools 2009. “We are delighted about having improved our ranking from 30th last year to 15th this year. This is the outcome of a complete team effort and commitment led by our chairperson Dr. Amita Chauhan and involving teachers, staff and students. Our balanced mix of academics, sports, co-curricular and community service education is increasingly being recognised. We’ll keep striving to improve our ranking,” says Mohina Dar, principal of the CBSE affiliated Amity International School, Noida which has an enrolment of 6,000 students.
