After completing my B.Com degree in 2012, I want to sign up for an MBA (marketing/HR) degree in the UK. What are the eligibility requirements?
Neelam Sawhney,

Admission into master’s marketing/HR degree programmes of British universities is usually based on academic track record, reference letters, personal statement of objectives and IELTS test score. Shalini Dias,
Pune

Forms for admission into university of Mumbai’s (www.mu.ac.in) Master’s degree programme in mass communication are available after undergraduate degree results of the university are declared. University of Pune (www.unipune.ernet.in) invites applications around May. Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism, Bhopal, offers postgrad programmes through affiliated institu-tions and hence admission deadlines vary. National institutes such as the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), New Delhi and AJK Mass Communication Research Centre, Jamia Millia Islamia University, New Delhi advertise in February/March.

The focus of each Master’s programme varies with the university or institution offering it. For example, IIMC (www.iimc.nic.in) offers a postgrad diploma course in print journalism and another in radio and television journalism, while AJK MCRC (www.jmi.nic.in) offers an MA in mass communication suitable for careers in radio, still photography, television and films. University of Pune offers a course in communications and journalism and another in communication studies (with specialisations). So, before selecting a particular programme, it’s important to assess whether you have a specific media specialisation in mind or are looking for a general study programme offering a mix of subjects. There are plenty of placement opportunities for mass communication and journalism graduates.
