Overview
Established in 1978 by the public charitable trust run by the followers of Shree Narayana Guru, the SN Vidya Bhavan School at Thrissur is a coeducational school affiliated with Delhi based Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and offers classes from pre nursery to class XII. The medium of instruction is English with Hindi and Malayalam taught as the second and third language respectively.
The aim of establishing the school at the coastal region of Chetrappinni was to make quality education accessible for children residing in this rural area and to make the children academically and professionally competent.
Campus
The school has two campuses; the nursery section at ward no VII and the main school at ward no IX of the same Gram Panchayat. The school building includes 60 spacious classrooms, a well stocked library and staff rooms with modern amenities. A separate science block houses the well equipped separate labs for physics, chemistry and biology. A sophisticated computer lab is also available.
Accomodation
On campus hostel facility is available for boys and girls from class VI to XII. The hostels are under the supervision a male warden (for boys) and a female warden (for girls).
Academics
The school follows the CBSE curriculum with Playway method followed at the pre-kindergarten level. Commerce and Science streams are offered at the higher secondary level.
Extracurricular
Sports and games such as volleyball and kabaddi, music, drawing and painting, needle-work, electrical gadgets and their repairs, handicraft, dance, dramatics, elocution and debating are some of the co curricular activities conducted at the school under the supervision of teachers. The students are also periodically taken out for picnics and educational tours.
Admission
Children above the age of 2.5 years are eligible for admission into pre-kindergarten. Admission to other classes is based on availability of seats.
